About us
We are a small family stud invested in preserving and sharing the Saddlebred breed to equine enthusiasts who value qualities of athleticism, great temperament and intelligence in their horses.
These qualities in our horses provide for trainability and stamina for excellence in performance for either purebred or crossbred horses. The Saddlebred carries a strong well-balanced frame with good bone and conformation. We offer chilled and frozen semen for our resident stallion Torrens Run Hy-Command as well as providing agistment services and facilities.

My passion for the breed began when I purchased a part bred Saddlebred Arabian, Narrawin Shareefa (pic). I embarked on entering the Endurance discipline as I had been introduced to it by a friend and would ride her horses.
When I came across Shareefa, she was so athletic and unflappable chasing down the spooky kangaroos and emu’s on the trail like a freight train. While she had never previously ridden an endurance ride, she took it on heart and soul and excelled, placing in many rides at local events, interstate 160km and Shahzada competitions. She had great heart rates for the vets and handled it like she had done it for years. Shareefa had such a calming influence, there were many rides where we would ride alongside others to help them through the course. Shareefa is now retired but she turned many heads during her reign.

Shareefa has ensured the continuation of her bloodline by conceiving a colt in 2016 named Torrens Run Shahdik, who is so much like his dam. He was sired by the Champion purebred show Arabian, Sadik Psyche and has some amazing Arabian and Saddlebred bloodlines.
This set the wheels in motion and the idea of our Saddlebred Sporthorse stud. During my endurance years we purchased a property in Mount Pleasant, South Australia which after years of building, renovating, improvements and foaling became Torrens Run Saddlebred Sporthorses in 2023.

About the American Saddlebred
The American Saddlebred became a recognised breed evolving from the Kentucky Saddler to the Saddle Horse in the 1800's. This breed was created through the refinement of prominent Thoroughbred and Trotting Horse foundation sires that were crossed with Pacers, Hackneys, Morgan Horses to develop the breed by the American Saddle Horse Breeders Association in 1891.
Today, the American Saddlebred is a versatile horse that has found success not only in saddle seat disciplines, but in dressage, eventing, Endurance, foxhunting, hunter-jumper, polo, and western disciplines.
American Saddlebred information and video from https://www.saddlebred.com
Typically, Saddlebreds stand between 15.1 and 16.3 hands in height and can be of any color ranging from black, bay, grey, and chestnut to palomino and pinto. They have a commanding presence, large expressive eyes, and graceful ears that are alert and forward. Their bravery, confidence and personality set them apart in the show ring and in the stable.
As a trotting breed, all American Saddlebreds perform three standard gaits: walk, trot, and canter. The breed standard for movement should be fluid and animated, with clear balance and cadence. Some Saddlebreds have the ability to be trained to perform two additional gaits exhibited in the five-gaited division. The slow gait and rack are both a four-beat gaits with each of the horse's hooves striking the ground separately. These gaits, like the breed’s walk, trot and canter, should be fluid, animated and balanced.
The American Saddlebred is a partner, performer, and the ideal horse for every job. Saddlebreds form strong bonds with their people and always aim to please. They are patient and forgiving partners, ideal for beginners, children and amateurs.
